Step 1
1) a: What does your father do for a living?
    b: He works for the government.
2) a: What do you do for a living?
    b: I pick fruit in the orchard.
    a: Is the money good?
    b: No, so I have a sideline.
    a: Oh yeah? What do you do on the side?
    b: I pick pockets in the city.
3) a: Do you work full time here?
    b: No. I only work part time at night.
    a: You mean you work two jobs?
    b: Yes. I'm a school teacher moonlighting as a pianist in this hotel restaurant.
Step 2
He's running a small restaurant.
My son has a newspaper route.
Step 3
I work for Sebang tour.
I work in a trading company. I was just transferred to the branch here.
I'm with a trading company calling Korea Trading Corporation.
Step 4
a: I work the morning shift tomorrow.
b: So, why don't you call it a day?
I have a perfect workplace. But I have to work the graveyard shift once a week. That's a fly in the ointment.

a: Does your wife work?
b: Yes, we're a two-paycheck couple. What about you?
a: We're a two-income couple, too. Both of us must bring the bacon to make the mortgage payments on our house.
b: I see.

b: He's not in yet.
a: What time does he punch in?
b: Normally at 8:30.
a: What time does he punch out?
b: The official quitting time is five, but he usually goes home after six.
Step 7

    b: It's a small price to pay.
2) a: I'm going to be transferred to Seattle next week.
    b: I'm sorry to hear that. We're going to miss you.
3) He transferred to a primary school in Seoul.
Step 8
1) a: Aren't you going to work?
    b: No, I'm taking the day off.
2) a: May I take this Friday and Saturday off, please?
    b: Why?
    a: I have to go to attend my friends wedding.
3) I've only just taken the morning off.
4) a: Tom! I thought you'd be working today.
    b: Nope. This is my day off.
5) a: Don't you have to work tonight?
    b: Nope. This is my night off.
6) a: May I speak to Miss Kim please?
    b: She's off today.
7) a: Aren't you late for school?
    b: School's off today.
Step 9
You're making an excuse to cut school.
Helen and I played hooky to go to the movie.
Step 10
1) Where did you go to school?
    I went to Kang-Nam high school and then I entered Kang-Nam University in 1975.
    My English is good enough for entering Kang-nam University.
2) Now I'm enrolled in the Master program at Kang-nam University.
3) a: When did you graduatefrom the university?
    b: I started in 1975 and graduated in 1980.
Step 11
1) a: who's calling the shots in this office?
    b: I'm sorry?
    a: Who is in charge here?
    b: Well, officially Mr. Kim is the boss here but practically Mr. Lee is calling the shots because he is the kid brother of the company president.
2) I have the final word in this matter.
3) who wears the pants? I'm the one who wears the pants.
Step 12
1) I'm tired of being treated like this. I quit.
2) She quit school at 16 and left home.
3) a: I'm so tired of my job that I'm thinking of quitting.
    b: Stick with it, Tom. The job market is prettty bad right now.
Step 13
1) a: OK, I'll quit this lousy job.
    b: You can't quit, you're fired.
2) a: why were you kicked out of the school?
    b: I chose the wrong friend.
Step 14
1) a: What's your major?
    b: I major in economic.
2) a: What do you major in?
    b: I'm majoring in Sociology.
3) a: What do you do for a living?
    b: I'm a medical doctor.
    a: What do you specialize in?
    b: I'm an ophthalmologist.
